Building a better world for humans.

Hey, I’m Jackson Higgins 👻

I’m a senior product engineering manager based in San Francisco.

I work at Ohalo, an agricultural biotech company, and help manage the development of industrial systems and automation for our genetic and plant growth operations. I own the product area that connects plant breeding to commercial-scale seed production. That includes greenhouses, processing equipment and the software that tracks each plant.

I like to solve hard problems with cross-functional teams and build technology that makes people’s lives better.

What I do

  • Product for physical operations

At Ohalo I own product for the greenhouses, processing equipment and plant-tracking software behind our seed production. I map how the work actually gets done, decide what we build or buy, and get it rolled out with the teams on the ground.

  • Modeling before spending

I build simulations and cost models to test a plan before we put money into it. At Boeing, that analysis kept us from buying a $4M machine we didn’t need.

  • Data and AI products

At Cohesion I led Savvy, an analytics and AI platform for commercial buildings. I owned the data model, the dashboards and the AI assistant that answers questions about building data.

  • Building my own tools

I write a lot of my own software with AI, for work and for fun. That includes internal tools and models at work, and side projects like a Spotify playlist sorter and a kaleidoscope editor.
